Περίληψη: I’m going to talk about my journey from studying in Thessaloniki to working in one of the world’s leading research labs for Artificial Intelligence. Furthermore, I will present questions and problems we are trying to answer nowadays, and share my views on future directions of the field.
Σχετικά με τον ομιλητή: Dr. Yannis Assael (website: https://www.assael.gr) is a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind working on Artificial Intelligence. In 2013, he graduated from the Department of Applied Informatics, University of Macedonia. With full-scholarships, he completed his MSc at the University of Oxford, where he received the “Tony Hoare Prize for the best overall performance”, and an MRes at Imperial College London. In 2016, he went back to Oxford pursuing a DPhil (PhD) degree with an Oxford – Google DeepMind scholarship.  Within the first year, following a series of research advances and entrepreneurial activities, he also started as a researcher at Google DeepMind. He completed his DPhil in 2019. His research focuses on moonshot projects such as solving audio-visual speech recognition, using text-to-speech for ALS patients, and exploiting AI to restore damaged ancient Greek texts.
