The user password can be changed at https://www.ceid.upatras.gr/ipa/ui/reset_password.html
The code must be “strong” so that it is not easily guessed by others: Use a unique password for your accounts. Use a large password, at least 8 characters. Use combinations of letters, numbers and special symbols. For ease of remembering use a phrase that only you know. For example, using the phrase “The big fish eats the little fish” the code “T>>Psar1^mikro” can be generated.
The following restrictions apply to most accounts: The code is valid for one year after which you must change it. From several services of the department you will be automatically informed when the code expires or when the expiry date is approaching. There must be an interval of one hour between password changes. You cannot reuse the same codes. The system “remembers” previous codes you had and does not allow you to use them again. If you enter the wrong password multiple times, your account will be temporarily locked and you will not be able to log in even if you enter the correct password later. In this case you should wait at least ten minutes before trying again.
In case you forgot your password, you can recover it through the password recovery service from the page https://www.ceid.upatras.gr/reminder/ The procedure assumes that the user will have previously registered an alternative e-mail address, in order to receive the new access code to the webmail.ceid.upatras.gr service, by selecting “Settings” (top right of the screen) and then “Password recovery”.
User accounts for undergraduate and graduate students are created automatically when the details are communicated by the department secretariat. For all other accounts, either a) an application to the helpdesk service by a member of the department is required, or b) with the physical presence of the applicant at the offices of the P/C.
The service is in a pilot phase. At https://www.ceid.upatras.gr/activity/ you can see the recent activity of your account. Additional information will be added in the future.
Always be suspicious of any messages or websites that ask for your personal information or messages that ask for any of the following information: usernames, passwords, bank account numbers, PIN codes, or your birthday. Do not reply or fill out any information on pages linked to these messages.
POP and IMAP protocols are what allow you to download messages from CEID’s servers to your computer so that you can access your messages with a program such as Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird, even when you are not connected to the Internet
If you are trying to decide between POP and IMAP, we encourage you to use IMAP.
Unlike POP, IMAP offers two-way communication between the server and the email client with messages being synchronized automatically across all the devices you use (webmail, thunderbird, mobile). It also ensures that new messages are accessible from any device at any given time and offers a more consistent experience overall.
The settings for the email client program are as follows:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server – Requires SSL
mail.ceid.upatras.gr

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server – Requires TLS

Requires START-TLS: Yes (Port 587)
Requires authentication: Yes
Use same settings as incoming mail server

If you receive messages that appear to come from your account, or if you receive a reply to a message you never sent, you may be the victim of a “spoofing” attack. Spoofing falsifies the return address of the mail to hide the true origin of the message.
When you send a letter by post, you usually write a return address on the envelope. There is nothing stopping you from writing an address that is not yours. In fact, someone else could send an e-mail and put your own address in the envelope. Email works the same way.
None of these cases indicate that your account has been compromised, but if you want to be sure, you can check recent access to your account. See the answer to the above titled “Check your account for suspicious activity”
Users have access to public mailing lists (CEIDPublicMail) depending on their capacity to which they can be deleted and resubscribed at will.
For this setting you will need to either log in to https://webmail.ceid.upatras.gr/, then select the “Settings” tab (top left of the screen) and then “Folders” (in the list on the left). In the middle column entitled “Folders” the lists with a selection field (checkbox) appear from where you can choose from which or which lists you will receive e-mails. Alternatively, in an email management program (thunderbird, outlook), you right-click on your account, select “Subscribe…” and then the folders you want to subscribe to.
Nothing is required to connect a user to the wireless network as it is – for now – free.
In order to support the services provided by EHY, the service of the members of the Department and the continuous monitoring and management of the resources and the operation of the network, the user assistance service (Helpdesk) operates.
All support and requests concerning EHH/YK and the services it provides, are submitted exclusively through the website https://helpdesk.ceid.upatras.gr/ which is accessed using the account you have in the Department.
The system to which users can connect is the server diogenis.ceid.upatras.gr. Recommended remote connection application for Windows is putty available at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
